The Trixie Coco Coir Block is a great, all-natural solution for creating an ideal casing layer for magic mushroom cultivation. Starting as a compact brick, this eco-friendly substrate expands up to 7–8 times its size with just the addition of water, yielding approximately 2 liters of soft, airy, and moisture-retentive coir. Heat-treated for purity, this coco coir is free from mold, germs, and has no added fertilizers or any other additions, ensuring a safe and healthy foundation for your plants, fungi, or reptiles. With its slightly acidic pH of 5.0–6.0, the substrate nurtures the growth of various species while helping maintain balanced humidity levels. Application
As a Casing Layer: Apply a thin layer (¼" to ½") over fully-colonized substrate with visible primordia or pins. Its stable pH and ideal moisture level help encourage successful fruiting.

In Bulk Substrates: Incorporate into your bulk substrate mix at the desired ratio to improve its structure, moisture retention, and colonization speed. Pasteurization or sterilization is recommended.

Pasteurizing (Optional):
Although naturally resistant to bacteria, some growers prefer to pasteurize their coco coir. Use steam or a hot water bath at approximately 180°F (82°C) for 1–2 hours. Afterward, squeeze out excess water and allow it to reach the appropriate field capacity. Latex gloves are recommended for handling.

Storage & Handling:
Store your coco coir in a cool, dry place. Because it absorbs moisture easily, keep it sealed in airtight, food-grade containers to maintain its freshness and readiness for future cultivation cycles.
